When Helen and Jonathan told me that they wanted a outdoor family shoot at Sheldrakes I was chuffed to bits. I’d seen some stunning work at this location and couldn’t wait to don my wellies and head to the estuary to take some fun packed photographs of this happy and energetic family on the boats.
A beautifully warm & sunny April day, loads of gorgeous Wirral scenery , and a delightful, full-of-fun family who can’t wait to have their photos taken. Yes, my friends, it’s the story of yet another tough day at the office for me…I love my job!
I always love family portrait sessions; they’re full of giggles, energy and fun.
This Out ‘N’ About family photo shoot was part of Helen & Jonathan’s engagement, which I’m happy to report is going to be held here…at Sheldrakes. Watch this space for their wedding day. For now, here are some of our favourite moments from a rather lovely afternoon at the office.
“It all started with Susan & Nick tying the knot in Baxenden, Lancashire at the beginning of last month…I can’t remember seeing a single cloud in the sky!”
What a wedding to start 2013 on! Susan & Nick were married at St Johns, Baxenden. The sky was blue Nicks ride. A mesmerizing 1978 light blue Porsche 911, it was stunning! Not a cloud in the sky, a perfect spring day, a perfect day to get married on!
On leaving Baxenden to head for the reception at the beautiful Haighton Manor in Preston it was apparent that the traffic was unusually busy! I, being the photographer, as tends to be the case, need to be present to capture the whole day, not sitting in my assistants car in traffic! I was truly relieved to find that Susan & Nick had only arrived five minutes earlier than me and Paul, who I thank whole heartedly for his quick thinking and driving skills to get us to Haighton Manor on time!
Just as St Johns Church was wonderfully lavished with stylish bouquets and other unique decorations, Haighton manor looked stunning inside, and outside the sun was absolutely beaming, but not as much as Susan, who looked like she was going to burst with excitement! Her smile said it all.
In true Lancastrian style, the celebrations were big and bold.
I’d like to thank Susan & Nick for their love and making me feel right at home up in the hills!
Congratulations and all the best for the future.
The long awaited sneak peeks for Hayley and Joe’s wedding have finally arrived! In the beautiful setting of Deganwy near Conwy, North Wales, Hayley and Joe got married at the Quay Hotel and Spa. The wasn’t a single moment that both and Joe were smiling from ear to ear, and thinking about it, they weren’t the only ones. In fact it was pretty much a smile fest all day and well into the night. These are just a few pics from their epic day. Congratulations Hayley and Joe.
Wow, what can I say about this very special wedding which I had the pleasure of documenting for such an awesome couple. Jennie and Graham are now Mr & Mr Parr after a most memorable day in the beautiful setting of Whitley Hall in Sheffield. Surrounded by amazing friends and family there wasn’t a second that went by that Jennie and Graham weren’t beaming with huge smiles. Congratulations!
Here’s a sneak peek….
Yes! There really were as many vehicles as that at one wedding! The Top gear team would have loved it…but not as much as Sally-Anne & Phil and anybody else who had the pleasure of being there! The whole day was amazing and ran like clockwork…and the room looked absolutely amazing too! I never got to sample a piece of the cake which I’m a bit gutted about…I had my chance though hey Sally-Anne! Full blog coming soon…..
Firstly I’d like to start this post with a huge congratulations to the newly weds, Mr & Mrs Plimmer! What an occasion! Kara & Ben were so happy from beginning to end and so was everybody involved, from friends and family to everyone who contributed through their services. It was an absolute joy to be part of it all. Look at how amazing the Fishery looked after all their hard work…especially Ben & Kara’s as they hand crafted 1000 cranes by hand which you can see in this lovely photo, well done guys, awesome!
It’s bit of late entry this one! If I can cast your minds back to a time when things were much colder, a time which filled the landscapes with a picturesque layer of snow as far as the eye could see….a time such as the middle of March this year! The seventeenth to be exact! Holcombe Hill in Lancashire was a perfect location for a stroll in the snow…not too perilous, and has the views! After a quick visit to the shop for a survival kit we made our way to the top, stopping every now and then to capture a few embraces as Susan and Nick kept each other warm as they ascended towards the clouds. It was pretty cold! That didn’t stop the Lancastrians from enjoying the views and having a bit of fun in the snow before climbing back down and heading home for a nice hot tea though!
Sally-Anne and Phil are getting married on a Concorde later this month! With both of them having connections to aviation through family, it seems fitting that they will tie the knot in the isle of our fastest known passenger plane to date! It wouldn’t have been fair of Sally and Phil to have come out to play on an airplane while leaving their two beautiful daughters at home, so they came along too! Liv and Mia were soon wearing the captains hats and taking the reins in the cockpit while Sally and Phil enjoyed the flight and braced themselves for take off on the 31st August….soon!
Here’s a snippet of what I’ve been up to for the last five weeks! With four weddings and two pre-wedding shoots in and around Cheshire, Manchester and Staffordshire to keep me on my toes, it’s been all systems go! Starting at ‘The Place’ in Manchester on the 28th June 2013 for Helena & Mikes big day, who got married in style in one of the coolest venues I’ve ever seen! Thanks for everything Mr & Mrs Overend, the meal was amazing and you two were great fun to work with. The following week I had the pleasure of shooting a friends wedding at Keele Hall in Staffordshire. Bow and James got married on the 6th July, which just happened to be the beginning of our much loved heat wave. Just one of the very many ingredients that made their wedding so special. The following day I met Kathryn & Steve for their pre-wedding shoot at their wedding venue, Willington hall. They enjoyed a stroll through the gardens and surrounding grounds as I snapped away nearby. A few weeks later on the 24th July as was lucky enough to document Valerie & Martin’s wedding at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa on the outskirts of Chester. Valerie & Martin had an amazing day surrounded by great friends and family in an awesome venue. Maurice and his staff at the Grosvenor were absolutely spot on throughout. A few days later…on my birthday! I headed to Stafford to meet Kara & Ben for a sunset pre-wedding shoot. After nearly losing a camera in some long grass which was being approached by a herd cows and bulls, I managed to compose myself and take moment to capture Kara & Ben enjoying the late rays . Then, I was soon heading back to Willington…to retrieve a lost lens cap! I jest of course, it was actually Kathryn & Steve’s wedding! They couldn’t have asked for a better day to get married on. It was perfect. The weather, the venue and staff, the company of all their amazing friends and family…..and a few raised glasses! Full blogs coming soon!
